I'm building a map showing local transportation routes. I've been able to add the various layers to get all of the highway and rail routes, but now I want to "edit" some routes so that they do not appear on the map. Is there a practical way to do this?
How do I access the underlying "database of route segments" to edit how they appear? My initial thought is that I would find the specific route segments to be removed, and change the 'display color' to 'clear' or 'blank', if that is possible. Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone,
I am wondering if there's a way to properly display points with UTM coordinates from a CSV in ArcGIS Online. This is usually not a problem in ArcGIS Desktop, as I choose the correct UTM zone when displaying x-y coordinates. However, when I upload a CSV to ArcGIS Online and select the UTM coordinates as the location fields, the points do not display properly. I believe ArcGIS Online interprets the UTM coordinates as decimal degrees.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Thanks!
Hi All,
I am new to road and Highway domain and looking for a sample dataset to start with learning specially the LRS. Appreciate if you can direct me to some resources.
Found below but it seems to have old references.

Thank You

Is there a GIS data portal available on Esri for South Africa?
I went through this post and did not get any help.
Thanks in advance
I want to build a navigation map, that links the nearest parking for each building. I used a network analysis tool nearest the facility, I couldn't do more progress in the project and I used by location tool and didn't know how can I use it.
so my question is there a tool that can help me? I should finish this process and upload it to build a web map.
Hello I am trying to create a dataset for campus transportation. I want to locate the bus stations in different zones according to the student distribution. what is the best way or tool that I can use for that ?
Hi,
Does anyone know how you create 3D flight paths that look like the arcs in the image below:

We use ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

All,
What is the syntax for quire in Solve Vehicle Routing Problem tool?
I am trying to make several routs using the Solve Vehicle Routing Problem in ArcPro. I ran the analysis but, because of it scale it took 14 hours. That run did not produce a satisfactory result. To tweak the criteria, I was going to run the analysis on only one zone. (the zones are preexisting and they want the routs to fall with in the zones.) Instead of exporting destination points in each zone, I was going to use the query under the network location to limit destination points to one zone via an attribute in the destination point feature class for the zone it is in. I could not find any reference on the syntax used for the query so I tried zone=1 (Zone is the name of the field) . Overnight , the analysis was ran again. Instead of a route for zone one only. it the script failed. the error message was:
ERROR 030213 parameter(s) are not valid ( Feature locator WHERE Clause").
I want to make sure the syntax in the quire is correct . please help.

Hi! I'm trying to find corners of a city with a high concentration of traffic crashes.
First of all, I´ve tried with kernel density analysis, but I'm wondering if there is something that makes a sort of a ranking of corners, so I can determine which is the most dangerous corner of our city. Sorry if this question is silly, but I'm new with spatial data and I'm eager to learn new things on ArcGIS.
thank you!!!
I'm trying to make an interactive online map and need some advice.
I'm trying to make an interactive map of an urban greenway network (a trail system that intersects with streets and parks) which would allow users to find directions from one address to another using the trail system as the route.
Is this possible? I've looked into turning the trail network shapefile into a network dataset and then I've tried to figure out how to upload it to AGOL. I have an enterprise account FYI. Should the trail network be a network dataset or a routing service? I just need some advice about basic steps to do this. I haven't really seen this done before but it doesn't seem that complicated.
Thanks in advance.
My name is Klemen. I work a lot with road networks in 3D GIS.
I would like to calculate an accurate slope for road network lines. I use the tool "Add Surface Information" (ArcGIS for Desktop).
As a result, in the areas of steeper slope, the slope value of road segment differs so much from the slope of underlying raster.
There is an example in the attached figure. We can see an area of 9 cells. The size of one cell is 5 x 5 meters. Red numbers represent the values of elevations (in meters) for each cell. Blue numbers represent the values of slope for each cell (in degrees). The green line is one road segment. It's length in 2D GIS is only 9,189 meters. The green segment crosses four cells. After using the tool "Add Surface Information", the result for 3D length is 10,99 meters and for average slope is 65,61 degrees. How can the value of average slope of road segment differ so much from the slope of raster cells (blue valus)??
I'm thinking that the solution of my problem could be the use of code in following support: How To: Calculate the instantaneous slope of a linear feature across a surface . I would like to use that code in ArcPy, but my colleagues told me, that the existing code is not written in ArcPy (my personal knowledge of Python is not good). Do you know this code in Python (ArcPy)? I would really like to try it.
Thank you very much!
Klemen
